SEC 10 Year Anniversary Event - Calne

The Saturday proved to be equally sunny, with many more visitors arriving throughout the day, along with some fantastic examples of Saabs.

The atmosphere was friendly and laidback and the Enthusiasts Club Shop, overseen by Wendy and Julie was doing a brisk trade - but I made sure I left enough for the others!

The t-shirts were popular - with Wendy telling me that they are now out of some of the sizes - so order yours now whilst stocks last!

Chris Potter suggested lining up some Saabs for a photo and no sooner had Chris, Jason and I lined up our Saabs than we were joined by eleven others! Quite a spectacle and it generated a lot of interest.

Time was spent wandering around chatting and inspecting the various models for the Saab beauty contest, though you are not permitted to vote for your own vehicle(s)! As always at these events, the condition of many Saabs is so good as to make a decision a near impossibility.

One of the contenders for the most beatiful Saab, as I have not heard the results yet, must be Jason's two-stoke, two-cylinder 92. No need for a Jack here, we've got a Jason holding this one up!

A fantastic birthday meal was provided on the Saturday evening with a variety of Mike Palmer's excellent cartoons as placemats - certainly a talking point. Two of Mike's cartoons were framed and offered as the most unique prizes in the raffles.

Two raffles were held, one each on the Saturday and the Sunday. By some strange quirk of fate I managed to get the some appropriate numbers on the Saturday: 95, 96 and 99!

On the Sunday I went one better, purely by chance and ended up with 92 and 93 aswell as 95, 96 and 99! I had two winning tickets on the Saturday and, as I had to leave early on the Sunday, I will soon find out if my Sunday tickets were winners aswell.

A resounding thank you is deserved by the organising committee and especially to Bridget and Wally who had so obviously put in a great deal of effort to ensure that the Saab Enthusiasts' Club 10th year birthday was an enjoyable occasion for all attending.

I certainly had a great time meeting old friends and making new ones, and I hope to see you all at future SEC events!
