EMS Splash Out on Spares - 2000The East Midland Saab (EMS) Spares 2000 weekend was held on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May at Holmepierre Pont in near Nottingham.
The only rain over the whole weekend was ten minutes or so immiediately I finished jetwashing the 900. Well, one can't arrive at an event with a filthy Saab, can one!? Friday afternoon saw the site filling early with keen bargain hunters, although bargain hunting did not officially begin until the Saturday. Friday evening being an opportunity for socialising. Saturday and the sun was out and so were the Saabs! Established show supporters Highgate Saabpart Ltd, Brian Butler's Saab Sanctuary, Malbrad and JG Motors - amongst others - were there to help enthusiasts find those difficult to find parts, or maybe just a bargain or two? This year, many people opened their Saabs to reveal all manner of parts and paraphernalia. Everything you could need, including Saab mugs and clocks from Sharon Foxley.
Anyone wishing to take a break from the haggling could pop over to the next field to see, perhaps, the largest number of Saabs that they are ever likely to see in one place! From the two-strokes of the sixties to the latest in executive performance flying machines, and most Saabs in between, too! One of the most eye catching Saabs - for its rarity and its colour was this 1970 Saab Sonett III.
And there were other right yellow Saabs to match a bright day in Nottinghamshire, including a yellow 1990 Saab 9000CD and this distinctive and sporty looking yellow 9-5. With an opportunity to spot more rare Saabs, such as the limited edition 900 Ruby and to have a chat with some of their owners, a stroll around the field made for interesting viewing!
David is seen modelling new items in the range of Saab Enthusiasts' Club Merchandise comprising green Club baseball cap with logo complimented by white, sports action t-shirt. ...or... Would you buy a used car from this man? Dave with 9000CSE 2.3t - just £3,995, or four grand cash to you, guv'nor! Note, the boot lid is not being held up to prevent it falling on Dave's head, honest. It's all in working order. He told me so.
